Lauren Kitts  has a Bachelor of Fine Arts, with a major in sculpture, from the University of California, Santa Cruz, USA. 1985. She works from her home and studio in Swanson, New Zealand and has an outdoor gallery of sculpture there for sale.    She has attended over 30 sculpture symposia, nationally and internationally, exhibits regularly at events like "Sculpture Onshore", and galleries, and does work on a commission basis. She has won awards for sculpture at the Lincoln Green Art Awards, gold award in 1997 and at the Waikato sculpture design awards in Hamilton, merit in 2000 and 2007, silver in 2008-9.  She says of her work: "I am interested in the workings of human emotions and spirit.  Some of the themes I work with are the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity, and the presence of a universal power within us.
