Renate Verbrugge I was introduced to stone sculpture by Filipe Tohi in 1999 and have gone on to explore and immerse myself in this art form which has become the total passion it is today.  "Stone sculpture is revealing the form already in the stone by removing the layers around it. I sculpt purely instinctively, by letting go of the mental self and listening only to inspiration. My works should be appreciated with the eyes, the hands, the heart, rather than the mind.  No intellectual explanation needed.  "
