When I touch a stone which is of Taranaki, I am touching its history, its place within the environment from where it came. I feel the need to tap into the energy, a tangible connection to my place in the world.  I have been sculpting Taranaki Andesite for four years, it is a completely absorbing art form, which I will never tire of.

I want to get under the surface when I work with a stone. To uncover the layers of beauty within a stone, to cut, and peel the surface away, look deeper into its core. Somewhere that no-one has ever set eyes upon before, not since the moment of its inception, yet always there waiting to be discovered and gloried in.

Andrea has recently completed Batchelor of Visual Arts - Fine Arts Major at WITT and is ready to pursue all artistic challenges presented to her.
