A SYMPOSIUM EVERY SECOND SUMMER - The biennial Te Kupenga International Stone Sculpture Symposium brings together international, national and local sculptors for 3 weeks of carving the local Andesite boulders. The sculptors can be seen at work daily on the New Plymouth foreshore in Taranaki, New Zealand.

The 7th Symposium will be held from 27 December 2009 - 17 January 2010 followed by a public exhibition of finished works. A public auction of works in the exhibition will be held on site  23 January 2010. Places for the 5 international artists, 10 national artists and 10 local Taranaki artists are contestable ensuring creative and professional sculpture of high quality is demonstrated.

The sculpture symposium can be viewed from New Plymouth's coastal walkway and is a major attraction for visitors and locals alike. The Te Kupenga Stone Carving Society is most appreciative of this public support and thanks the sponsors for assisting to showcase an international event of this calibre.
