This is my 4th Te Kupenga Symposium. Carving hard rock seems to me a lot
like living: you need to trust your intuition and have the courage to
discover what is hidden. And what you find often seems like a miracle. Each
new boulder is challenging with decisions to make and new skills to learn;
you need a vision but also to allow for the unexpected to
happen; what's gone is gone and you continue with what's left; sometimes
you chip away with little apparent progress with just enough faith to carry
on; and then comes the sweet moment when the work takes on a life of its
own and gives back pleasure. Whatever the journey, the reward at the end is
a tangible feeling of accomplishment.
"There are only two ways to live your life - one as if everything is a
miracle, the other is as though nothing is a miracle" Albert
