The Process

The following photos show some of the basic techniques and tools in use.     
Blocking out the basic shape. Cuts are first made with an angle grinder then a chisel is used to knock out the unwanted rock.
 
 
Marking out the cut lines on a small stone.
 
Using the air chisel to do the finer shaping.
 
 Using the angle grinder with a diamond edge blade to contour and smooth the shape.
 
 
Using the angle grinder to smooth the surface.
 
 Final polishing done manually with a grinding block.
