TE KUPENGA INTERNATIONAL STONE SCULPTURE SYMPOSIUM 2008
This summer Te Kupenga welcomed 5 international, 8 national and 12 local sculptors to the 2008 symposium. For three weeks in January they carved the local volcanic Andesite boulders on the New Plymouth foreshore beside the Tasman sea. We witnessed a creative surge with so many artists working together and sharing their knowledge.
The local public and tourists enjoyed this unique opportunity to observe hard rock sculptors at work and to see the fruits of their efforts at the final exhibition and auction.
Throughout the Symposium this website enabled people to see
events unfold – new pictures of the artist's works in
progress were loaded on a regular basis.
